Sally first trained as a painter but with her love of colour and following an inspiring visit to Chartres, installations with moving light sources and transparent colour became her preoccupation.
An interest in buildings and materials, with particular interest in architectural glass, led her to learn the techniques required for what is generally known as ‘stained glass.’
This website will show the uses of a rich medium and illustrate some of the commissions gained from the many years of Sally’s practise.
Sally is a Past Master of the Art Workers Guild and an Associate of the British Society of Master Glass Painters.
Apart from private clients, her work for churches include windows for;
The Good Shepherd, Tadworth, Surrey
St James’, Rowledge, Surrey
St William Church, Sheffield
St Mary’s, Batcombe, Somerset
St Juthware, Halstock, Dorset
St Mary’s, Lottisham on the Somerset Levels
Here you will also see how Sally continues to sketch and paint. She enjoys giving talks and demonstrations and since moving from Batcombe to Bath, she opens her studio at her house in Bloomfield Road, as part of Bear Flat, Open Studios in May.
Copies of Sally’s book Art Through Glass are available at £13.50 inc. pp and is available from the artist.
